The Last Week

Well it has been a very whirlwind week. We will recount it for you with our own thoughts.

Sunday- April 22nd (from 4 on will be recounted by Kevin- as I have no idea what happened after this time)

We got up as normal- went to church and then out for lunch- as always.
I had a bit of a nap from about 1:30 until 3:00 ish. I then got up and had a soak in the tub (to relax). After getting out of the tub I decided that the bathroom needed to be cleaned. I started to clean the tub and felt a drip down my leg. I was not sure exactly what was going on. As anyone who has been pregnant can tell you, you have very poor bladder control. Anyway this kept happening. I decided to call mom. She told me to go to the hospital to get checked. I decided to wait- so that lasted about 10 minutes then felt more. I went down to tell Kevin what was going on. He said that we were going to the hospital. Well after that decision I decided to quickly finish cleaning the bathroom. I did this and put some new clothes on then went down to the kitchen. I wanted to unload the dishwasher before we left so started to that and Kevin told me to get moving and not worry about it.
We then headed for the hospital. After that everything for me is a blurr. Here is what Kevin told me what happened. We signed in and went up to Women's Health. It was very very very busy and it took awhile for a nurse to come and check in with us. A nurse finally came and took us down to a labor and delivery room. Once in the labor room they did all the vitals and made sure that my water had infact broke. Once that was decided they got me preped and ready for the section. The doctor checked me and I was already 4 cm dialated- so moving very fast. I only had about 3 contractions.
At 5:33 they wheeled me to the operating room. The doctor tried to put in my spinal but could not get a good spot for it so they decided that I had to be right out. So they did that. Kevin was still able to go in and be with me. At 5:57 our baby girl was born.
Kevin took her down to the nursery and I went to recovery. After that I remember nothing really until the next morning. I have been told that I looked at her through the the glass of the nursery (I remember some of this). At about 10:30 I actually got to meet her for the first time. The nurse brought her in and laid her beside me. It was an awsome feeling- I can't even describe it- mothers out there will know what I mean. We had her for about 20 minutes and then I started to get very tired so she went back to the nursery and Kev went home for the night. I was in alot of pain through the night so I didn't get much sleep.

The next few days got better and better. Monday was very tough. I was not able to lift her and I was in alot of pain, but by Tuesday I was feeling so much better. Then by Wednesday I was very ready to go home. But, no luck. My blood pressure was extremely high so they wanted me to stay in. Again Thursday I was desperate to take Chloe home and I was ready to go home- but they just couldn't seem to get my blood pressure under control- so I stayed yet another day. On Friday I was just about at my wits end- I wanted to go home! So finally the doctor came in at around 10 and said that I can go- I just need to monitor my blood pressure daily and get a perscription. I was so happy. So at 12:00 on Friday we were able to go home. It was such an amazing experience to bring her home for the first time.

Beaker reacted how we suspected. He was scared of her. He will come up and sniff her a bit but the second she moves he's gone!

Anyway that was a long post-sorry.

We are very blessed with a happy healthy baby girl. I am doing fine- my blood pressure seems to have corrected itself and I am starting to feel more rested. Kevin was back to work on Monday and mom took Monday and Tuesday off to be with me and Chloe.

You forgot to mention that she is the most perfect and wonderful baby in the world! Oh and the smartest too.
